Hello!
It's Tash here, and I'm thrilled to be back with our second newsletter.
I've been on the road again this week, visiting local B&Q stores across the country, meeting customers, and giving them paint advice. I absolutely love this part of my job—meeting people face-to-face and helping them solve their interior dilemmas.
And one question that always pops up? How can I find my personal style?
So let's answer that now. Let's dive in, shall we?
Five years ago, it was all about midcentury modern, farmhouse, and Scandi styling, but now it is all about mixing it up.
Your home is so personal to you; it should tell YOUR story.
Your home should reflect your personality, your experiences, and the things that bring you joy. It's not about following trends or trying to replicate a picture-perfect Instagram post—it's about telling your unique story through your space.
The number one key to getting this right is the colour palette. You can bring any furniture or objects into your home, but if the colour palette isn't right, it won't work.
So, how do we achieve this? Here are a few tips I swear by:
Look to your wardrobe for inspiration.
The colours and styles you love to wear are often a great starting point for your home's colour palette. If you're drawn to earthy tones and natural fabrics in your clothing, why not bring those elements into your living space?
Pinterest.
It's just so good at revealing what you are subconsciously drawn to. Get pinning those images onto a board, then take some time thinking about any overarching themes or colours present on your boards. You can follow me on Pinterest here.
Draw inspiration from your favourite places.
Think about the spots where you feel most at ease – maybe it's a cosy café, a sun-drenched beach, or that quirky bookshop you discovered on your last holiday. What is it about these places that speak to you? Is it the colours, the textures, the overall vibe? Use these elements as a springboard for your home design.
Don't be afraid to mix and match. Your style doesn't have to fit into a single category. Love both vintage finds and modern pieces? Fantastic! The most interesting homes often blend different styles in a way that feels cohesive and personal.
Surround yourself with things you love. Whether it's a piece of art that moves you, a quirky lamp you couldn't resist, or family heirlooms that tell your story – if you love it, it belongs in your home.
Remember, there's no right or wrong when it comes to personal style. The key is to create a space that makes you feel happy, comfortable, and truly at home.
Trust your gut, have fun with the process, and don't be afraid to experiment.
I hope these tips inspire you to embrace your unique style in your home. As always, I'm here to help you create the space of your dreams. Just drop me a DM on Instagram.
Tash x
